WHAT WE DO
FRIENDS OF WEEKI WACHEE

ABOUT US

The Friends organization is operated by a group of dedicated volunteers that have been elected to serve on the Board of Directors. By-Laws, Policy and Procedures, and a Code of Ethics were established and are updated as needed to guide our Organization. The directors meet monthly to conduct business that arises, discuss and vote on motions that are brought forward. The reports of the park manager, officers, and committee chairman are presented. Meetings operate under Robert’s Rules of Order.

Our meetings are held the 3rd Tuesdays of each month at 5:00 PM in the conference room of the Administration Building at the Park. They are open for visitors who are interested in becoming involved in the organization. We are continuously recruiting for CSO Memberships, Board Members and Volunteers.

Gail Anderson is in her second term as our President and has been a driving force for our Board, with innovative ideas and great leadership and organizational skills. We call her “the leader of the park!”

We are looking for Board members committed to volunteer service, open to new experiences, and ambitious about making  difference at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. Come Join Us!

WHAT CITIZEN SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS DO

A CSO can:

  • Financially: raise funds, seek and receive grants, accept gifts and bequests of money, as well tangible property equipment, and supplies.
  • Provide Volunteers: by soliciting individuals for the various work, expertise and experience to help the success of the Park, and recognizing their contribution.

All efforts are focused on making our Park the thriving, national family attraction it has been since 1947. The Board of the Friends as well as other volunteers work tirelessly to make this iconic natural spring a destination where families create lifelong memories by experiencing the magic of live mermaids and the beautiful Weeki Wachee River.
